TCU after another West Monroe prospect

TCU has landed three players from West Monroe, Louisiana the last two classes and are showing interest in another for the 2013 class; cornerback Xavier Woods.

West Monroe has become a great pipeline for the Frogs the past two classes with Chuck Hunter, Terrell Lathan and James McFarland all signing with TCU. Hunter got a ton of playing time as a true freshman in 2011 and Lathan and McFarland are two guys that could play as true freshmen in 2012.

TCU is eyeing yet another prospect from the school, cornerback Xavier Woods. Woods recorded 43 tackles, 5 interceptions (2 returns for scores), 7 catches for 233 yards and 2 punt return touchdowns.

The 6-foot, 175-pounder has one offer on the table and is getting strong interest from others.

"It's going good, not what I expected so far but other than that it's going great," Woods said. "I have an offer from Houston. LSU, Georgia Tech, Lafayette and TCU are showing interest."

What does he know about TCU?

"I know they play incoming freshmen, I saw that when they played Chuck Hunter this past year," Woods said. "That's a big key for me. They're coaches are coming out in the spring to look at me."

Woods says he's received plenty of advice from his former teammates about TCU.

"I have a great relationship with James and Terrell and I talk to Chuck every now and then," he said. "He talks about how the coach wants me to come down and talks about me."

Although Houston is his lone offer, Woods says more could be around the corner including LSU. Woods admits an LSU offer would be nice but doesn't guarantee an immediate commitment.

"LSU, they said an offer is coming if I do good at their camp," he said. "If they offer, I'm going to keep everything open. I would like to represent Louisiana but my favorite school since early childhood has been Georgia."

Woods has an early list of favorites which includes the Frogs.

"My favorite from schools looking at me right now is LSU," he said. "TCU, Houston and Miami are the others."

Woods plans to attend camps at Alabama, LSU, TCU, Florida and Houston over the summer.
