East Texas WR puts on a show

Mount Pleasant, Texas 2014 prospect K.D. Cannon was one of the top players at the Under Armour 7-on-7 Tournament in Cedar Hill.

The Under Armour 7-on-7 tournament in Cedar Hill featured plenty of playmakers in attendance. One player who definitely turned some heads throughout the day was Mount Pleasant receiver K.D. Cannon.

At 6-foot, 165-pounds, Cannon displayed excellent route running abilities and had arguably the best hands of any receiver in attendance. There's a good reason Cannon is already considered one of the top players to watch from the 2014 class.

Several schools have made their way to the east Texas community to see Cannon. Among those schools are Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor and TCU.

For Cannon, he's been caught a little by surprise with all of the early attention.

"It's overwhelming," he said. "Texas, Texas Tech and Texas A&M are showing the most interest. Tech and Texas have talked about offering."

Cannon has plans to attend the TCU mini-camp in Kilgore later this month, but could also be heading to Arkansas according to his father. Cannon says the Frogs have shown interest, but haven't mentioned anything about a possible early offer.

"The receiver coach came by, I'm going to their camp in Kilgore," Cannon said. "They haven't talked about an offer."

Cannon says Oklahoma State is among his favorites early on; noting he likes the way the Cowboys utilize their receivers.

The humble Cannon gave a simple description of his best strengths as a receiver.

"My route running and catching the ball," Cannon said of his strengths.

He definitely showed those strengths on Saturday.
