With the calendar flipping to the month of May, recruiting is starting to heat up like it does every year about this time. One player that's really turning heads is Allen LB Christian Sam. The 6'2" 208 pound defender spoke with HornedFrogBlitz.com about his offers, spring practices and how things are going on the recruiting front.
"We had out first spring practice today" said Sam. "I'm not sure how many practices we get but I'm working on getting better this spring."
With offers on the table from 14 programs, Sam says he's excited about the process but really wants to focus on becoming a more complete player this spring.
With so many schools coming through Allen to look at the talent rich program, Sam knows all he has to do is play his game and recruiting will take care of itself.
"I've been talking to Ole Miss, Arizona State, Arkansas, Oregon State and Oklahoma the most" he said. "Coach Sharp and Coach Cross are supposed to come see me and they said based on what they see and how I fit, they'll decide if they're going to offer or not."
While most project Sam at either linebacker or safety, the Allen prospect says TCU likes him as a strong safety more than anything. So where do the Frogs stand if they come forward with an offer?
"Well, I was really high on TCU and they're still on my list but they haven't offered yet" said Sam. "I'm really just focusing on the schools that have offered and showed me interest and the love, so I can't really tell you a straight up answer about TCU since they haven't."
Recruiting aside, Sam wants to improve on a few things as a player this spring.
"I want to get better with my hands and really learn to use them better" he said. "I also want to keep my speed, I don't want to lose that, no matter how big I get."
Christian Sam is certainly an intriguing prospect and one that the TCU staff is doing their due diligence on. Will TCU come through with an offer or will the Frogs go in another direction? Stay logged on to HornedFrogBlitz.com for the latest.
