Juwan Washington entered his junior season at Kennedale High School hoping that his recruiting would pick up with a strong season. Over 2,400 yards and 36 touchdowns later, Washington was expecting an offer from the University of Houston.
"They said an offer was coming soon," Washington said. "So I found out from Coach Logo that Coach Meacham was coming to offer me on Wednesday but had the coaching change Tuesday, so I'm waiting on the new OC at Houston for the official offer. Maybe TCU will try and offer also"
Houston's offensive coordinator Doug Meacham was hired by TCU, and Washington said it was exciting news.
"I think it can be a good thing for TCU," Washington continued, "by the way he runs his offense. He likes those quick speedy backs and knowing he wanted to offer me before the switch is great too because I believe that he will still reach out from TCU."
"That's one of the top schools I like a lot. We could build a good relationship through the process, and I hope to talk with him soon."
While Washington has seen TCU on several occasions, he decided to take a trip to see the Frogs play Baylor, a school that he has also visited.
"I loved it," said the 5'8 scat back. "Great atmosphere around the stadium. Something I'd love to play in, and I got to go in the locker room and visit with some of the players. They were cool. I talked to some of the redshirts. I know a couple of them, and I was just seeing what it's like making the adjustment the first year."
Kennedale finished with just a 7-5 record, but Washington accounted for nearly 2/3 of their touchdowns on the year. He led the team in receiving touchdowns, rushing touchdowns, and he threw for a touchdown on his only passing attempt.
Washington attended camp at TCU, Baylor and Houston last summer.
