For TCU fans, they may want to get familiar with the name Patrick Jones. The 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive lineman out of Arlington Heights is definitely on the radar for the Frogs' 2016 recruiting class.
Jones attended the Frogs' sophomore day last week and visited the campus once again as TCU held their first linemen-only camp of the summer.
It didn't take long for Jones to catch the coaches' attention after running a very impressive 4.60 forty, which was by far the best for any defensive lineman in attendance. Jones enjoyed the coaching he received throughout the day and knows it will benefit him moving forward.
"The coaches had me working on staying low and I guess once I stay low I'll be a whole lot better," Jones said.
The coaches have already made a big impression on Jones; especially during the sophomore day.
"I liked it, it was a lot of fun," Jones said of TCU's sophomore day. "It was real nice; I like their facilities and all of the cool stuff they have. I like the coaching staff a lot; they have a really good coaching staff. I like it up here."
Aside from being just down the road from TCU's campus which is a plus, Jones also has a family connection on the football team; his brother is incoming offensive lineman Ty Barrett. Jones says his older brother talks up the Frogs every chance he gets.
"He loves it; he tells me I need to come here all the time," he said. "He's always wearing TCU gear and every time I see him he gives me TCU gear. He stays in purple."
With the proximity and family connection, Jones says the Frogs are currently his top school.
"TCU is my top school," he said. "They're kind of like the underdog and I like being the underdog and being able to overcome that."
