TCU added their first commitment of their 2016 class on Friday night by landing one of the fastest rising prospects in Texas when Shepherd defensive end Jonathan Marshall committed to the Frogs.
Marshall was on TCU’s campus Friday afternoon for the Frogs’ lineman camp. He was the top player in attendance among the defensive linemen; testing well with a 4.9 forty and winning countless battles during the one-on-one session.
The 6-foot-2, 256-pounder already held an offer from the Frogs prior to his camp visit. Along with TCU, Oklahoma State and North Texas had extended offers to Marshall.
It wasn’t long after his visit to TCU that he decided he wanted to make a commitment to the Frogs. The soft-spoken Marshall said his admiration towards the program led to his decision.
“I just love the school,” Marshall said of his decision via text.
Marshall was one of many talented prospects that visited TCU for the Frogs’ sophomore day a couple of months ago.
Just weeks ago Marshall didn’t know when his recruitment would get started. Now, he’s committed to a Big 12 program. Needless to say, he’s been caught by surprise by all of the attention.
“It’s pretty nice,” he said of being recruited. “I thought it would be this year coming up.”
