The flurry of recruiting interest in Coleman followed a stellar junior season at Marshall High School in Missouri City (Texas), in which Coleman made 84 tackles and 7 sacks. He followed up with another outstanding season as a senior at Marshall, registering 92 tackles, 14 sacks, and 25 tackles that resulted in a loss of yardage.
Coleman ended the speculation about where he would play his college football early (May 2007) and he was excited about coming to TCU, telling Scout's InsideTexas.com "A couple of days ago, I committed to TCU and I'm very excited about it". "I can't wait to get up there," Coleman continued, "Their defensive coaches are good coaches".
That they are. And the TCU defensive staff has a talented player to work with in the 6-2, 265-pound Coleman. He is a strong, muscular kid with a very physical style of play that TCU fans will enjoy watching. He also has very good speed, good change-of-direction skills, and good angles of pursuit.
In short, Coleman is a player that has tremendous upside. He should be a very productive player for TCU.
He may even develop into a star!
