It's Official: Antoine Hicks a Frog!

Antonie Hicks is now a frog. Arriving to TCU late in the summer, the question now becomes whether the Horned Frogs will redshirt the wide receiver, or throw him into the fire right away. "Obviously we need help at the wide receiver position depth wise, so we will just see," stated Coach Patterson today.

TCU head coach Gary Patterson addressed the media today and on his agenda was 2008 WR Recruit Antoine Hicks.

"We have had a couple of additions who will be part of this year's class. Former Texas signee Antoine Hicks will be in camp with us as a wide receiver. He has been cleared to play this season."

The 6-foot-2, 193-pound freshman, is a product of Timberview High School (Arlington, TX). An All-American and all-district performer, Hicks is rated as the 63rd wide receiver in the 2008 recruiting class.

With Hicks arriving to TCU late in the summer, the question becomes whether the Horned Frogs will redshirt the wide receiver, or throw him into the fire right away. "Obviously we need help at the wide receiver position depth wise, so we will just see," stated Coach Patterson. "What he has told me is that he has been running and lifting all summer. So we will give him an opportunity to see where he is at, but obviously we are excited about him being here. He's a big body at 6'2 and over 200 pounds. We don't have many of those guys running around the place."

Hicks who played many positions in high school was mostly a quarterback the last two seasons. "He mostly played quarterback in high school and not much wide receiver so he will have to learn how to play wide receiver at the college level," stated Coach Patterson.

Hicks, who participated in the 2008 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game, compiled 4,044 yards of total offense (1,688 rushing/1,922 passing/434 receiving) and accounted for 37 touchdowns during his prep career.
