The TCU men's basketball team dropped a 62-50 decision to the University of
Nebraska on Wednesday (Nov. 19) evening at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum in the
home opener of the 2008-09 campaign.
The Horned Frogs, who fell to 1-3, could never find their shooting touch
throughout the evening as TCU connected on 27.0 percent (10-of-37) of their
field goal attempts which was the fourth lowest single-game mark in
program history.
The Purple and White connected on 3-of-19 (15.8 percent) from behind the
three-point line, but shot 71.1 percent (27-of-38) at the charity stripe.
For the game the ŒHuskers connected on 43.2 percent (19-of-44) of their
field goal attempts and 76.2 percent (16-of-21) of their attempts from the
charity stripe.
Kevin Langford (Fort Worth, Texas | University of California) led all
scorers on the evening with 19 points after connecting on a career-high
13-of-18 from the charity stripe. The TCU forward scored nine of the team¹s
first 15 points in the second half of action with the last field goal coming
at the 7:49 mark that cut the lead to seven points at 46-39.
Ronnie Moss (Fort Worth, Texas | Christian Life Academy) and Jason Ebie
(Houston, Texas | Alief Elsik H.S.) each added seven points while Kevin Butler (Duncanville, Texas | Duncanville H.S.) grabbed a team-high seven
boards on the evening.
Paul Velander was the top scorer for the ŒHuskers at 11 points while Toney McCray and Steve Harley each added nine points for Nebraska, who improved to
2-0 on the season. The ŒHuskers held a 35-11 advantage against the Frogs in
points off of the bench.
The Frogs will return to action on Saturday (Nov. 22) when the Purple and
White play host to McNeese State for a 7:00 p.m. tip.
